Principles

Extend, don't replace

feedspec specs are additive extensions to existing formats. RSS stays RSS. Atom stays Atom. We add capabilities on top.

Graceful degradation

Readers that don't support a feedspec extension see exactly what they always have. No breakage, no confusion.

Built on standards

OAuth 2.0, JWT, well-known URIs, JSON. We compose existing web standards rather than inventing new ones.
